The Whitebeam tree is a species Susie returns to again and again, for it’s tangle of branches and the two-tone contrasting leaves. The flash of white on the underside of a Whitebeam leaf was described as a ‘sudden-lighted whitebeam’ in gusts of wind, by poet George Meredith. Susie shows off these contrasts by framing the leaves against circles; perhaps the sun or the moon, with the leaves moving from dark to light across the design.
This design is a single colour fabric printed digitally in the UK, from lino prints by Susie Hetherington.
Lighted Whitebeam is available in three colourways on natural linen, though custom colours can also be discussed. The three set colours are Sedum Green, Shale Grey and Pale Blush. Our base cloth is a linen union from Scotland; (51% linen /49% cotton).
